Dimensional inspection and integrity control

1) Electronic products for vision

SPIn developped electronic products for vision powerful and flexible, suitable for several needs into mass production, control and automation fields.
Particularly S.P.In. developped "VideoEngine"for acquisition and processing of "slow scan" images (i.e. linear CCD sensors) and on this technology it created vision systems for quality control and for piloting of "Pick and Place" systems.

ValueLine, EasyLine, SmartLine:	telecamere lineari with high adaptability, availibles with DSP on board.
VideoEngine	DSP-based video processor for Visual Inspection and interface with other sensors and automation systems.
Rainbow Light:	solid-state lighting systems, reliable for stroboscopic or monochromatic light.
IXpector:	X-ray inspector system for industrial applications.

2) Applicazioni

Grazie a questi prodotti, nel corso di 1996 e 1997 sono stati realizzati sistemi particolarmente significativi in diversi settori della produzione industriale.

Wood industry : pointing out system for lumps and faults of cutting-off machine;
Mechanical industry: quality control on fittings, trifles, process control for soldering lines;
Textile industry: pointing out system for classification of faults and check up of the yarn;
Confectionery: vison based pick and place system, for goods wrapping;
Manufacturing industry: checking out forprint cenetring on label and plastic tops;
Biomedical industry: reading system for bidimensional microdots code, on analysis test tube.

3) Verifiche dimensionali 2D e 3D senza contatto e controllo integrità

From its experience on "pick and place" systems, SPIn extended its competences adopting algorithms for dimensional inspection and for integrity controlby comparison (XORing)
in this case the mesurement system is based on CMOS cameras and high resolution (up to 1000x800) enabling mesurements with maximum accuracy 0.01mm or on ccd Full Frame Transfer sensors that may control up to 4000 peaces each minute.

Those systems may be configured as completely autonomous supervizing the mechanical parts production or assembling small parts on more than one lineas (up to 4 each central unit) with the possibility toreport to the operator the test result by signaling GO/NOGO or by LCD+dedicata interface.

Each unit can as well indipendenly activate an actuator for the automatical rejection of the out of specifications product, or signal by serialto a PLC or a PC the test result.

It is also available PC based system version that enable to use a very intuiting graphic interface as well as the possibility of more analysis such as the production data files and the automatical documentation production for certification or file (bare code).

Two elaboration units are available:

VideoEngine with 60 MFLOPS DSP Texas Instruments for big processing in real time by 1-4 CMOS sensors b/w and color with variable resolution (max 1000x800) and Checkit software.
Processor Unit based on 68030 Motorola and Frame Works software by DVT;

Both unities are equipped with 8 inputs e outputs configured and with a serial link RS232/RSA485.

Even available a liquid crystal operator pannel (LCD) 2 lines x 20 characters to visualize messages and for data planning.

Both systems stand-alone may be programmed from remote PC and may have a comunication software with data file as requested by the costumer. The PC based system has the same characteristics as Processor Unit adding a semplified interface (totaly definied on costumer needs) to assist the operator on inspection duties or more.

Proces automation drivers LabView della National Instruments are available for all systems. SPIn is one of its most important developper into Image Proicessing field.
